The Space

Peaceful dog-friendly deluxe cabin has stunning mountain and pasture views, new floors with in floor radiant heating, hardwood cabinetry, quartz countertops and a fully equipped kitchen for the inspired chef. Several indoor/outdoor lounging and dining areas to choose from. New skylights brighten the kitchen which comes with full size stove, fridge, DW, espresso machine, waffle maker, toaster, microwave, rice cooker/steamer, blender, electric mixer, and Weber gas BBQ. Coffee, assorted teas, spices, condiments and pantry essentials, such as waffle/pancake mix are provided. Herb garden and dwarf apple trees adorn the front deck where you can enjoy your morning latte on the outdoor sofa. Heritage fruit trees espaliered off the back deck where you can watch the sunset over the duck ponds, pasture with cows/sheep and 80-year old Douglas Fir forest. The bedroom contains a queen organic foam mattress with organic bamboo bedding. 3 pc bathroom comes with organic cotton towels, bath robes, hairdryer and shampoo/conditioner. Living area has a comfy day bed with lots of pillows and plush blankets to snuggle in while you are watching the farm animals play. Quiet ceiling fans and new energy efficient windows with blackout blinds in everyone room make the cabin cool and breezy in the summer. New in floor radiant heating, and insulation make the cabin warm and cozy all winter long. Eat a meal on the back deck or relax in your cedar Adirondack chairs and gaze upon vibrant stars in the night sky as we are far from the glare of city lights. Solar lights give the property a beautiful glow in the evening. The cabin comes with many games and books. The cabin has its own designated 5G fibre optic Wifi. There is no TV as we find farm animals to be very entertaining. Farm animals are viewed from pastures around the cabin but there is no access to the farm areas for biosecurity and safety reasons. Due to Covid, I will be socially distancing but on-site and available by text or phone.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to enjoy the fenced yard surrounding the cabin. Free parking is available in front of the cabin. Only paying guests have access to the property and cabin. The yard around the cabin is fully fenced when the front gate is closed. Well behaved and cat-friendly dogs are welcome to be off-leash in the fenced yard around the cabin. No cats are allowed in the cabin. If your dog is aggressive to any animals please leave them at home. We need to make sure everyone is safe on the farm and we want guests to have a relaxing time as well. Please make sure you dispose of all dog poop in the outdoor garbage. Guests do not have access to the area around the main house where I live and the fenced areas where the animals reside.

Other things to note

Hough Heritage Farm is a working farm with heritage breed cows, pigs, sheep, goats, llama, turkeys and chickens. You can enjoy watching the animals play in the pasture and ponds behind the 6 foot fence. Hough Road has beautiful walking trails at either end. The trail on the south end connects to a large field and the local elementary school playground. There are mountain biking and hiking trails nearby. The Sunshine Coast Golf and Country club is a 10 minute drive. Dakota Ridge Recreation Area is also nearby. The cabin comes with board games, cards and books. There is no TV. Many find the farm animals and local wildlife provide the best entertainment around. As Hough Road does not have street lights and no glare from city lights you will be able to star gaze to your hearts content. We are able to see the Aurora Borealis when it is active in our region.

Where you’ll be

Gibsons, British Columbia, Canada

Hough road is a picturesque and tranquil area of central Gibsons. It is a little slice of farmland and pastoral heaven only a few blocks from shops and cafes of upper Gibsons. Lower Gibsons is a 5 minute drive and there you will find the new Gibson's Public Market and many fine shops, cafe's and restaurants. Hough road joins up with two popular walking trails. The south end leads to a field and an elementary school with a new playground and the north end leads to Kearton trail. Hough Road connects to a network of trails that lead to the beach (Secret Beach and Bonniebrook Beach are a 20 min walk) and Gospel Rock with stunning views of Howe Sound and surrounding islands. Being on agricultural farmland we have several farmer's markets nearby.
